The secrets of animal photographyBook

There are these encounters that you don't expect at all. Or at least, at a proximity you wouldn't expect. Accompanied by my friend JC, I spotted the little fox on a path in the distance. Arrived on site, no sign of the animal's presence. On the other hand, the squirrels around are constantly screaming. There are 4 or 5 of them active. Perhaps it is our presence that troubles them? With the recent passage of the fox, I tell myself that he must still be around.

After a short moment of waiting, I turn around and pat my friend's shoulder: the fox is right behind us and is approaching. Just enough time to lie down on the ground and capture the series of photographs of the youngster trotting along the path.

In continuous focus mode, I was able to focus throughout the cub's walk. With the collimator firmly anchored on the subject's eye, I was able to take the entire sequence. The aperture of 2.8 allowed me to keep the ISO relatively low (the ambient light was low). The speed of 1/500s was sufficient to freeze the movement.
